National Ride to School Day

Enjoy a peaceful ride to school this Friday on Anti-bullying Day.

National Ride to School Day is organised by Bike Victoria, and is a great time to plan out your safest bike route to school.

Safety for all is increased when less cars are concentrated around schools. We all share the roads (whether that is crossing on foot or scooter or travelling by bike, car or bus). There is no room for bullies on the roads or at school.

This Friday the school is invited to participate in Ride To School Day by encouraging families to plan to ride a bike or scooter or walk.

Everyone will receive a cheery welcome at the top of the driveway when they arrive by bike, scooter or walk. The driveway will be open for this between 8.15am and 8.50am Friday 17th March.

Children can decorated their vehicles / helmets in orange – the chosen anti-bullying colour.

After children come up the driveway they will be directed through the gate and someone will be there to help find a place to park in a designated area. A reward of fruit salad and yoghurt will be waiting at the tuckshop to re-energise them for the day.

If the weather is wet decide at home what is the best option for you, but we will still be around, keeping as dry as we can, because our wheels will be rolling along the road / path just the same to get us to school for the day.

Coralyn and a small team have been involved in this over the years. Any help is welcome, so if you want to drop some fruit off at the tuckshop on Thursday 16th either at parent hub (8.30-9.15am) or Uniform Shop (2.30-3pm).

I know there will be some busy households working on wonderful orange creations to display on Friday.

See you then,

Volunteer Co-ordinator and keen cyclist –
