From the Principal

15th November 2018

From the Principal

Term 4 is flying by very quickly with many events still to come before the end of the year.
Year 5 students have been considering their leadership options for 2019, and I have been more than impressed by the standard of applications and interviews throughout the process so far.  Nine students have been shortlisted for the role of School Captain:  Matilda, Sophie, Hirunima, Milica, Harley, Gemma, Lyra, Noor and Jasmine.  Next Monday at Assembly, each of these students will present a short speech to our school community, discussing their own personal qualities and why they believe they are the right person for the role of School Captain next year.  All families are invited to attend this Assembly.

Week 10 will be a busy week with our Awards Ceremony on Tuesday 11 December, Graduation on Wednesday 12 December and the Swim off on Thursday 13 December.  We are expecting some disruption to building commencing this week while the air conditioning replacement scheme is rolled out.
Master Plan – Community Session
A community session was advertised for next Tuesday 20 November.  Unfortunately, this session has been postponed until later in the term.  I will provide more information when the date has been confirmed.
War on Waste
The Crew are so enthusiastic, that not only are they giving up their morning tea break twice per week to plan, but also volunteering before and after school to get things set up and sell donated produce.
Thank you for the continued generous donations!  You may have heard that we have been able to purchase a small greenhouse to start growing seedlings.  We have also had gardening gloves and tools, watering cans, seeds,  seedling trays, fertiliser, pots, seeds and potting mix donated to get us up and running.  Thank you Katy and Les who helped coordinate the donations on Wednesday.
Once we have our gardening helpers organised, we will be looking to start growing our own produce!  We are still very happy to receive donations.  The most helpful items at this stage is potting mix, mulch and seedlings in the coming week or so.  The Crew would also welcome any home-grown produce or eggs for their stall on Monday morning, and Tuesday and Wednesday afternoons.
Thank you to Di and her team for completing the murals from Messartopia and placing them around the school.  They look fantastic!

Looking Towards 2019
Next week, we commence with our Prep interviews followed by Prep Open Week in Week 9.  We look forward to welcoming all new families to our school.
If you are yet to enrol your child for next year, please contact the Office so that we can arrange an interview.
