Mt Gravatt Districts

Mount Gravatt District Primary School Sports
For sporting purposes, Dutton Park State School is a member of the Mount Gravatt District Primary Schools Sports Association. Children who excel at a particular sport at school level may attend District Trials for that sport. If students do well at district level, they then become eligible to represent the region.

Please note that while all students are encouraged to ‘have a go’ at sports offered within the school, the trial process is only for those who excel in the applicable area. This is a self-nomination process – however, any child attending a trial must be nominated by the school and have required paperwork signed. In order for the trials to be run efficiently, Dutton Park SS will only nominate a small number of students and therefore not all children who put in an expression of interest may be able to attend.
·         Skill identification
·         Game awareness and communication
·         Knowledge of rules
·         Sportsmanship and attitude
Students who wish to nominate to compete in any of 2017 District Sports Trials are asked to see Mr Alsop ASAP to receive an “expression of interest” form. Once trial announcements are made available to the school, relevant paperwork will then be sent home for signing.
Expressions of interest will be considered in the following sports
Aust Football (AFL)
Rugby League
Rugby Union
There will be school based trials for swimming, cross country and track and field. Student must meet required qualifying times/distances in order to be considered for selection in these events.
Please note
·         Parents must accompany their child to all trials.
·         Parents are responsible for transportation of their child to and from the venue.
·         A fee is charged for each trial. This is handed directly to the manager of the Trial on the day.
·         Age restrictions apply for different trials. Generally speaking, children must be turning 12 in 2017, however, in some sports, children turning 11 years may be eligible.
·         If your student is selected for a District or Regional Team, ongoing fees for future representation will be incurred. Students will be required to purchase team uniforms and attend team training.
